New study on Internet Connectivity

Connectivity100x100 GfK Technology has launched a new research programme looking at the multitude of ways in which consumers access the Internet.

The Internet connectivity market is changing rapidly with a proliferation of different devices used to access the Internet and different forms of connectivity (from fixed line Internet to WiFi to Mobile broadband).

Our new Connected Life Study provides estimates of the size of this market, not only device types and connectivity but both interlocked, so you can see what devices consumers are using to access the Internet and how the type of connection differs by device.

We also look at a variety of related areas including

  • understanding of when and where Internet access is taking place (increasingly important in a mobile environment)
  • what are the drivers of connectivity
  • issues around sharing of devices and connectivity
  • measuring the levels of lapsed usage
  • future usage and associated drivers

The study is currently underway in UK, Switzerland and Poland and we plan to roll out to other markets shortly. This survey will be repeated on a regular basis to capture the changes in the market.
